Turkmen President Seradar Berdymukhamedov said today, Wednesday, that his country plans to launch a transport corridor linking Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq and Turkey.

“In the future, a transport corridor will be launched from east to west that will connect Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq and Turkey,” Berdimuhamedov said, at the Second International Conference “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interaction and Development 2023” in the capital, Ashgabat, according to the Neytralny Turkmenistan newspaper.

He added that the construction of the highway and bridge across the “Karabogaz-Kul” Gulf between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will greatly increase partnership in transport, trade and circulation between the two countries.

He explained that a highway linking the eastern and central parts of Turkmenistan would provide Uzbekistan with access to the international sea port on the Caspian Sea, and from there to the Caucasus, Europe, southern Russia, northern Iran, the Gulf states, and the Strait of Hormuz via sea routes.
