The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, decided to return the Iraqi antiquities borrowed by Britain during his return to the country.

A presidential statement said that a ceremony took place in the building of the Iraqi embassy in London, on Friday the fifth of May, with the follow-up and blessing of the President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, to receive (6) thousand antiquities from Britain that had been borrowed from Iraq for study purposes since 1923.

The statement indicated that this came on the sidelines of his visit to the United Kingdom to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, where the President of the Republic decided to return the artifacts from London to Baghdad during his return to the country after the conclusion of his current visit to Britain, and to hand over the pieces duly to the Iraqi Museum.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, the Iraqi Ambassador to Britain, Jaafar Al-Sadr, the Director-General of British Museums, and the Director-General of the Museum of London, in addition to a large number of media professionals, specialists and prospectors from Iraq and Britain.
