Preventive Security Department personnel on Wednesday arrested the person who vandalised walls and columns at the archaeological site in Jerash, an incident that sparked angry reactions towards this kind of vandalism towards the Kingdom’s historical treasures.
The Public Security Department (PSD) spokesperson said Preventive Security Department personnel followed up on the incident and managed to identify the whereabouts of the suspect and arrested him.
The investigation was initiated from the first moment of receiving the report until completion, the spokesperson explained.
The suspect will be referred to competent judicial authorities to receive a deterrent punishment, the spokesperson concluded.
