Senate President, Canadian envoy talk ties

President of the Senate Faisal Fayez on Sunday met Canadian Ambassador Donica Pottie to advance bilateral ties in various fields, mainly the economic, parliamentary, and political ones.

Fayez commended the high level of the “strong relations” that are based on mutual respect and cooperation in many areas, top of which are the political issues in the region.

Jordan, he said, despite surrounding crises and conflicts, is “politically strong” and is secure, but it is facing economic challenges as a result of these conflicts and hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, in addition to the Coronavirus pandemic’s fallout.

He lauded Canada’s support for Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah’s effort to find a political solution for the Palestinian cause in accordance with legitimate resolutions and the two-state solution.

The Canadian envoy, for her part, underscored His Majesty’s vital part in ending conflicts in the region, valuing Jordan’s role in hosting and serving Syrian refugees. She also stressed Canada’s commitment to bolstering cooperation with Jordan in various fields.

The Senate president and the ambassador underlined the importance of the international community’s cooperation to settle disputes and conflicts in the region and bring about security and stability.
