The Anti-Cybercrime Unit with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Tuesday said that cybercrime-related cases in Jordan had surged sixfold since 2015.

The Unit said in a statement that the spread of technology, digital solutions, smartphone applications, the expansion of the use of social networking sites and peoples’ awareness about their right to litigate increased the rates of crimes registered with the Unit and encouraged victims to file complaints with the police.

In the statement, which included statistics of the most prominent cybercrime registered with the police in 2022, the Unit explained that cyber-crime cases increased six times over the last seven years, from 2,305 in 2015 to 16,027 in 2022.
