Palestinians decry Israeli violations, urge Security Council intervention

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tuesday pleaded the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibility in the Palestinian Territories and stop the Israeli forces and settlers’ harassment and assaults against Palestinians.

It said in a statement that illegal settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and the displacement of Palestinians pose a “serious” threat to the prospects of materializing peace and realizing a two-state solution to the decades-long conflict.

The statement emphasized that settlement activity is an outright violation of international law and could be treated as a “war crime.”

The Palestinian Authority in Ramallah urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to put more effort into investigating Israeli violations against Palestinians.
