Mafraq, The Mafraq governorate exported 585,687 heads of livestock to Arab Gulf states in 2022, according to the Mafraq Agriculture Department.

The Saudi market had the lion’s share of exported live sheep, at 416,781 heads, followed by Qatar at 78,385, Kuwait 75,315, Bahrain 12,485 and the United Arab Emirates 2,721, said the department’s director Ibtihal Khreishah.

She pointed out that the exports to the Gulf countries rose last year, which helped livestock breeders to improve their income and livelihood.

The sheep were subjected to procedures at the Sarra Veterinary Model Quarantine in line with up-to-date standards and health requirements demanded by foreign markets, including a 21-day quarantine period, health supervision and immunization against epidemics, after which a disease-free certificate is issued, Khreishah explained.
