The Minister of Water Resources, Awn Dhiab Abdullah, announced the Ministry’s intention to take ambitious plans to be a road map for managing the water file in Iraq.
A statement by the Ministry stated that as part of the visit of the Minister of Water Resources, Awn Dhiab Abdullah and his accompanying delegation to Croatia, the Minister visited this evening the Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and met with the director of (Water Management and Sea Protection Authority), who gave a presentation that included a full explanation of the institutional framework, and the legislative framework for water management in Croatia and the priorities of water distribution among the consuming sectors, as well as the national master plan for water management (the national strategy prepared in 2008 AD) and the Ministry’s procedures regarding achieving the sixth goal in sustainable development events.
According to the statement, the Minister gave a full explanation of the water situation in Iraq, including the most prominent challenges facing the management of water resources in it, and a set of promising measures and ambitious plans that the Ministry intends to take to face these challenges, the most prominent of which is updating the strategic study of water and land resources in Iraq to be a road map for water resource management, both internally and externally.
