Kuwait, Deputy Emir and Crown Prince of Kuwait Mishal Al Sabah and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Sunday held talks in Kuwait on cooperation and regional and international developments.

Safadi conveyed a letter from His Majesty King Abdullah II to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and greetings from King Abdullah and HRH Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II to Sheikh Nawaf and Sheikh Mishal.

The message focused on strengthening the “distinguished fraternal” ties between Jordan and Kuwait, Arab issues, efforts to support pan-Arabism and regional and international developments.

Sheikh Mishaal greeted King Abdullah II and Prince Al Hussein and affirmed his keenness to develop Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations.

The meeting discussed the two countries’ efforts to expand cooperation, and many Arab, regional and international issues of common concern.

Safadi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah held extensive talks that focused on relations and dealt with regional developments and efforts to resolve regional crises, promote joint Arab action and consolidate regional security and stability.

Safadi and Al-Sabah discussed increasing economic and investment and food security cooperation.

The top diplomats noted the “importance” of cooperation in education, as Kuwait is a work attraction for Jordanian teachers, 5,000 Kuwaitis study in Jordanian universities and hundreds of Jordanian students study in Kuwaiti universities.

They agreed to prepare for the meetings of the fifth session of the Joint Higher Committee, scheduled to take place in Kuwait in 2023.

Trade between Jordan and Kuwait in 2022 reached USD244.7 million as of October. Kuwait is one of the largest investors in Jordan, with an investment volume of about USD15 billion in tourism, energy, telecommunication, real estate, industry and banking.
