His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Health and the Royal Medical Services (RMS) to provide quality services to patients.

At a meeting with health sector stakeholders, King Abdullah urged allocating the necessary financial resources for developing healthcare facilities and training medical and support staff.

His Majesty called for stronger coordination on patient data to speed up services, urging further collaboration to expand the number of citizens included in universal health coverage.

Speaking at the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Health Minister Feras Hawari highlighted expectations for the health sector until 2030.

For the next three years, he said 19 new healthcare centres are expected to be ready, while 15 will be expanded, and 53 will undergo maintenance, and field hospitals will be utilised efficiently.

RMS Director Brig. Gen. Yousef Zureikat highlighted RMS plans up to 2030, aimed at increasing tertiary healthcare centres in Amman from five to 17, while also establishing two hospitals within three years.

The RMS will also revamp healthcare facilities at Al Hussein Medical Centre and in the governorates, he added.

Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan and Planning Minister Zeina Toukan attended the meeting.
