Jordan records 35 new COVID-19 related deaths, 704 infections on Saturday

35 new deaths and 704 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Saturday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 8,871 and 712,077 respectively, since the outbreak began in March of 2020, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.

Amman saw 261 new infections followed by Irbid 175, Zarqa 48, Mafraq 45, Maan 44, Balqaa 40, Jerash 25, Madaba 23, Tafila 17, Aqaba 12, Ajloun 8, and 6 cases in Karak.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 166, while 141 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

With regard to testing, 9,472 tests were conducted Saturday, 7.43 per cent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March last year has increased to 6,714,356.
