Head of the Senate Palestine Committee, Nayef Al-Qadi, said the recent developments and events that took place in relation to the Palestinian cause proved that Jordan was the “true” defender of Palestine, and its people.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Al-Qadi said Jordan is the “sole” country that firmly stands today to face plans and plots threatening the Palestinian people, which seek to solve the cause on the Palestinians expense, in a “clear” denial of all international laws and resolutions and a complete disregard for all human values and legitimate rights recognized internationally.
The senator denounced the “belligerent” measures and attacks launched by the Israeli government against the Palestinians in Jerusalem, the capital of the future Palestinian state, and the “obnoxious” attempts by the settlers to terrorize Palestinians to leave their homeland with the support of the Israeli authorities.
Al-Qadi highlighted Jordan’s unwavering position on deeming the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza as an “illegal act and inconsistent with international legitimacy resolutions,” adding that Israel must withdraw from all Arab and Palestinian lands it occupied on June 4, 1967.
To help resume peacemaking efforts, he called on the United States of America and other superpower nations, to exert pressure on Israel to end the occupation and enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, and to recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
As a concrete action, the senator also called on the international community to take immediate action to force Israel to end the occupation and recognize the two-state solution under the auspices of the United Nations.
