Algerian Ambassador to Jordan, Mohamed Sherif Kourta, said the cultural agreement signed by Jordan and Algeria lays the foundations for “more advanced” bilateral relations.

Speaking on the sidelines of a lecture held Tuesday, at the Royal Cultural Center, on the occasion of Algeria’s 60th Independence Day, Kourta said the two countries’ educational exchange is witnessing “an advanced development.

In this regard, he said the number of Jordanian students enrolled at Algerian universities has reached about 700, most in medicine specialties, while the number of Algerian degree seekers in Jordan stand at 200.

During the lecture, which was attended by a number of diplomatic missions’ representatives in Jordan, an photo exhibition from the the Algerian embassy’s archives was held on the country’s sacrifices to carve out independence and highlighted Jordan’s support for the Algerian revolution.
