Lower House Speaker Abdel Moneim Al-Awdat said Tuesday that Iraq’s security and stability is an integral part of Jordan’s security, noting that Iraq, with the awareness and steadfastness of its people, triumphed over the forces of evil and terrorism despite the difficult circumstances.

He made the remarks as he welcomed visiting First Deputy Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, and an accompanying delegation.

They said that the Iraqi parliamentary delegation’s visit is a translation of the vision of the Jordanian and Iraqi leadership in cementing the relations between the two brotherly countries and their parliaments. It also embodies a real and earnest desire to enhance cooperation and joint coordination in the various fields, they said.

Al-Awdat noted the deep-rooted and historic relations, stressing the Kingdom’s support of Iraq and to place all its capabilities for Iraq to restore its leading role in the region.

He said that a three-way summit between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, which was held recently in Baghdad, was the nucleus to achieve joint Arab integration and a milestone on the road of cooperation and bolstering the partnership between the three countries on all levels.

The Iraqi deputy speaker noted the advanced level of relations and the two countries’ keenness on strengthening cooperation, adding that the tripartite summit had positive repercussions on relations between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt in the various fields, especially in the political, economic, agricultural, industrial, investment domains and security and anti-terrorism efforts.

He said that the summit focused on a number of strategic projects, including electrical linkage, setting up a joint industrial zone and building an oil pipeline, which will be of great benefit to all parties.
