House passes amendments to military conscription law

During its session on Wednesday, the Lower House, chaired by Speaker Abdul Karim Daghmi, approved the draft law amending military conscription and reserve service for 2022, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh.

The mandating reasons for the new bill aims enable Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, (JAF) to keep pace with tech developments and automate its services, in addition to any other JAF’s measures, aimed to determine the minimum period in this regard.

Under the amendments, the minimum period of the military “flag” (conscription) stint is 3 months and should not exceed 2-year period. Jordanian males should issue this document at 17yrs old.

In addition, deputies relieved households with sole surviving son , per records of Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD), from serving in the army.
