Egyptian authorities have released and deported the son of a senior Palestinian politician after detaining him for more than two years, his family said on Saturday. Ramy Shaath, son of former Palestinian government minister Nabil Shaath, was arrested in Cairo in July 2019. He was accused of affiliation to an outlawed group and of spreading false news about the situation in Egypt. In July, an Egyptian court issued a final verdict putting Ramy Shaat on a terrorism list.
