DoS holds first meeting to launch 2022 JPFHS

The Department of Statistics (DOS) on Thursday held the first meeting at the level of partner leaders to prepare the 2022 Jordan Population and Family Health Survey (JPFHS).

 

According to a DOS press statement, the meeting was attended by 15 representatives from Jordan’s concerned ministries and institutions, as well as U .S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Macro International Inc., and other international bodies.

 

Speaking during the event, DoS Director, Shaher Shawabkeh, stressed the importance of implementing 2022 JPFHS because it provides comprehensive data and specialized indicators on reproduction, death, family planning, mother and child health and nutrition countrywide and at the level of governorates, urban, rural and regions.

 

The survey, he said , also includes representation of society by nationality, which is a reference source for specialists in the family health and reproduction fields for the purposes of evaluating population and health programs and policies.

 

Shawabkeh announced a series of technical meetings, which will be organized during the next phase, to align with outcomes of this survey in line with national needs.

 

In turn, USAID representative, Johann Mackay, stressed the importance of 2022 JPFHS and welcomed the continued cooperation with the DoS, through this national survey.

 

For her part, international expert from International Macro Inc. Alivia Montana, welcomed the continuous cooperation with the DoS, which began since 1990, highlighting the survey’s objectives, indicators and changes that will be used in the 2022 JPFHS in line with national and international requirements that serve 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
