Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country has evacuated 1,763 Turkish citizens from Sudan, along with 298 people from 22 other countries.

Cavusoglu added at the opening ceremony of a station for emergency medical services and a landing pad for ambulance helicopters in the southern state of Antalya: Turkey extended a helping hand to everyone who requested its assistance in Sudan, and we transferred citizens of foreign countries from Istanbul to their countries. I thank Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Egypt for their support.

In the same context, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that a Turkish armed forces plane that had come under fire in Sudan returned to the country on Sunday after taking the necessary measures.

Akar added, in a televised interview, “One of our C-130 planes landed at Wadi Sayedna Airport, north of Khartoum, and during the landing of our second plane, light gunfire occurred, despite that the plane landed safely.”

He explained that after taking the necessary measures, the plane returned yesterday, Sunday, to Turkey, stressing that all the planes in charge of evacuations completed their tasks and returned to the country, where the Turkish army planes evacuated 479 Turkish citizens.
