The non-profit organization Madrasati (my school) has partnered with the European Union and the Ministry of Education to launch a project supporting quality education and safe school environments. The project aims to prioritize the safety and attractiveness of the learning spaces and encourage community involvement in 100 public schools, by collaborating with directorates, school principals, teachers, students, and parents, according to a Madrasati statement issued Monday. The goal is to enhance education quality by partnering with the local community and involving parents in the planning, participation, monitoring, and evaluation of the school’s needs alongside the school staff. Six education directorates, including Ajloun, Madaba, Karak, Ein Al-Basha, Kourah, and Na’our, participated in the project with 400 attendees present.

The Higher Education Council Monday announced a gradual timeframe setting the number of admissions in medical and dentistry disciplines in public universities for the years 2023-2024 and on to 2027-2028. Under the plan, which was endorsed at a meeting chaired by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Azmi Muhafzah, 1,000 students will be admitted in human medicine studies, distributed as follows: University of Jordan (UoJ) 200, Yarmouk University 150, Mutah University 150, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) 200, Hashemite University (HU) 150, and Balqa Applied University 150. The Council also said that 300 students will be enrolled in the dentistry faculties of UoJ, JUST and HU, 100 each (after the Hashemite University obtains special accreditation). In the 2024-2025 academic year, only 800 students will be admitted in the medicine major in all public universities, and admissions to dentistry faculties will be reduced by 20 percent. As for the academic year 2025-2026 and beyond,
only 640 students will be enrolled in medicine in all Jordanian universities, and there will be a 20 percent reduction in dentistry admission numbers for the year 2025-2026 only. The Higher Education Council stressed that the decision came to control the quality of higher education outputs, particularly in these two key specializations, and safeguard the reputation of Jordanian universities through abiding by the capacities of universities and check current increases in admission numbers. The Council highlighted the need to cut the number of graduates in these two specializations to curb unemployment among them in the future.

The initiative which is coordinated with the Ministry of Interior reflects commitment to enabling all citizens to develop their capabilities and contribute to developing their communities, said Education Minister, Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma.

In a statement today, Dr. Juma praised the support of the Minister of Interior General Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to joint work to implement the best practices and care for inmates’ rights.

A batch of 192 inmates from reformation and rehabilitation centres will be registered after expressing their desire to study for their bachelor and master’s degrees.

He pointed out that the council held a series of meetings with competent authorities before launching the initiatives, extending their to the Ministry of Interior, as well as higher education institutions for their cooperation.

The inmates will be registered in academic majors which include business management, accounting and geography and history.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today the availability of a number of scholarships in the field of postgraduate studies (Master’s and Doctorate) in the Republic of Pakistan, for the academic year 2023-2024.

The Ministry also announced the availability of a number of scholarships for the year 2023-2024 at the Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences in Pakistan, to obtain a bachelor’s degree in various specializations.

The Department of Allied Health Professions at Modern University College organized a welcome and introductory day for new students accepted into the Diploma in Nursing major today, at the building of Attorney Dr. Hussein Al-Shuyouki in Ramallah.

The students were received by Dr. Ribhi Bsharat, Dean of the Modern University College, Mr. Qutaiba Alawneh, Director of the Student Affairs Department, Mr. Yasser Al-Sabti, Director of the Practical Training Office, and a group of academics and administrators.

Dr. Bisharat explained to the students the systems and laws in force in modern university settings, pointing out the necessity of adhering to the face-to-face work, and explaining the nature of the curricula and educational supplements and the ways to obtain them, in addition to clarifying the standards and conditions required for bridging in terms of grades and others.

Bisharat stressed that nursing is a vital artery that provides society and countries with the necessary competencies to maintain people’s health and provide them with the necessary health care in light of the challenges surrounding public health locally and globally. He explained that they undertake a great humanitarian mission that requires them to master what they have learned and reflect it in the best way in the labor market after graduation. .

Dr. Bisharat pointed out that Al-Asriya University, throughout its continuous forty-year journey in university education, has provided an educational environment and structure that responds to the requirements of the profession and the era, including basic laboratories and advanced simulation laboratories equipped with the latest medical devices and models for training, in addition to launching Al-Asriya Life Support Training Center, which enables students to Take basic and advanced courses in basic and advanced CPR and more.

For his part, Alawneh stated that the Student Affairs Department has been working from day one to involve students in extracurricular activities such as sports, literary and artistic activities, in addition to participating in local, Arab and international conferences in order to strengthen the students and provide them with life experiences that will remain a moral asset for them that will strengthen and support them with the knowledge they acquire. The students’ commitment will later reflect educational outcomes and the ability to fulfill the requirements of the profession in the Palestinian labor market.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the academics and students went on a tour of the Al-Asriya University campus to learn about its important halls and facilities.

He gave an overview of the Association of Arab Universities, saying that it is a non-governmental organization founded in 1964 based on a decision issued by the League of Arab States. Its membership includes more than 450 Arab universities and its headquarters are in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

He presented a set of figures about the reality of higher education in the Arab world, most notably the enrollment of 65% of students in humanities majors in universities, and 35% of students in other majors.

He said that about 600,000 students from the Arab world are studying outside their countries, including 50% who remain in these countries.

He talked about the reality of Arab universities in the international rankings, explaining that there are about 14 Arab universities among the top 500 universities in the world.

He said that scientific research and financing scientific research are considered the most prominent challenges facing higher education in the Arab world, adding that Arab countries spend less than 1% of their national income on scientific research only, and this percentage is very small compared to developed countries.

He talked about the role of universities in light of artificial intelligence, pointing out that there are many questions about the role of universities in the future and they will be discussed during a conference during the coming period.

He also spoke about the objectives of the Union, the most prominent of which are cooperation in controlling the quality of university and higher education and ensuring its quality, striving to achieve mutual recognition of academic degrees and certificates issued by educational institutions, supporting student excellence and creativity, encouraging joint student activities between educational institutions, encouraging the establishment of research centers and supporting the conduct of joint scientific research and exchange. Its results, paying attention to applied research, linking its topics to Arab economic and social development plans, strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and coordinating their efforts among themselves and with universities and relevant regional and international institutions, especially in keeping pace with the developments of the times and modern educational techniques and patterns.

He said that the Union includes under its umbrella 40 educational institutions distributed in various universities in the Arab world, and it also works to provide many awards in the subjects of scientific research, excellence and creativity

The training session of the first batch of female civilian volunteers at the Reserve Force kicked off at the Bahrain Defence Force today.

Major-General Muneer Ahmed Al-Subaie, Royal Reserve Force Unit Commander, attended the opening of the course, held at the Isa Royal Military College, with the participation of female civilian volunteers from the relatives of the military and civilian staff and retirees of the BDF and the National Guard.

The training session aims to provide military training for the participants in order to enable them to carry out their patriotic role in serving and defending the nation, alongside their brethren from the BDF, based on the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to advance the status of Bahraini women.

The BDF has prepared well for the training session by providing all requirements, equipping the classrooms, selecting the best trainers and offering the best study subjects that cover military sciences, theoretical materials and practical training programmes, which will ensure the graduation of well-trained and qualified female civilian reservists.

Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC), in cooperation with Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), recently launched the first specialized cybersecurity program for University of Jordan (UJ)’s students.

According to its statement, ZINC is scheduled to kick off a series of training courses in the cybersecurity field successively, at a number of Jordanian universities, in joint cooperation, and will contribute to developing youth skills in this area.

ZINC announced the launch of the first program courses for students, in cooperation with JODDB at the UJ, which provides 120 intensive training hours, provided by cybersecurity experts from JODDB’s “Cyber Shield” Academy, the statement said.

UJ-based ZINC branch hosts all the program activities, which were launched on September 6 with participation of 18 students.

Jordan Al-Ghad Advanced Engineering Company announced the successful installation and operation of the nation’s first 3D concrete printing robot.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) this Sunday, the company’s CEO, Anas Azaiza, detailed the capabilities of this state-of-the-art machine. The robot employs a six-axis robotic arm to seamlessly pour concrete, facilitating the creation of intricate shapes, figures, and sections both efficiently and precisely.

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania Al Abdullah Tuesday received top General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) achievers for the 2022-2023 academic year, at Al Husseiniya Palace.

According to a royal court statement, King Abdullah and Queen Rania congratulated the students on their success, and spoke with them about their plans to pursue education in various academic and technical disciplines.

His Majesty commended students’ dedication and academic excellence, urging them to pursue degrees that fulfil their aspirations and meet labour market needs at the same time.

Students expressed pride in meeting with Their Majesties, noting that it gave them an added incentive to move ahead academically and professionally.

Some of the students spoke about their interest in pursuing professional and technical degrees, due to the low employability of some academic degrees, in addition to the rapidly changing needs of the local and regional labour markets.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Azmi Mahafzah attended the reception.
