The leader of the National Coalition, Dr. Iyad Allawi, received members of Al- Sadara Bloc.

During the meeting, according to a statement by his office, they discussed the latest developments in the political situation in the country, and continued support for the government of Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani in implementing its government program, achieving security and stability, and providing the best services to our honorable Iraqi people.

MIKATI INAUGURATES ‘PROJECT LEBANON 2024’ TRADE FAIR AT BEIRUT’S SEASIDE ARENA


Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Project Lebanon 2024’ fair trade, in its 25th edition, at Seaside Arena, Beirut Waterfront, in the presence of Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of ambassadors, diplomats, officials, and concerned specialists.

It is noteworthy that ‘Project Lebanon 2024’ is a trade fair for construction, infrastructure and renewable energy for Lebanon and the region, and it is organized by the ‘International Exhibitions Company’ under the slogan ‘Lebanon Moving Forward’, to highlight the pivotal role of the construction and renewable energy sectors in the advancement of the Lebanese economy.

The sister of the North Korean leader criticizes the joint exercises between South Korea and the United States

The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un criticized on Wednesday joint military exercises conducted by Seoul and Washington, pledging to strengthen her country’s military power in the face of hostile forces.

Kim Yo Jong, who holds the position of Deputy Director of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party, said that the United States conducted more than 80 rounds of military exercises with its followers, and those organized by South Korea total more than 60 rounds during this year.

She added in a statement published by the North Korean Central News Agency that this clearly shows ‘who are the main criminals who are straining the regional situation.’

Kim also accused the two allies and Japan of escalating tensions in the region, noting that they were like a burning fuse by conducting trilateral military exercises, according to the statement.

‘We will continue to build overwhelming and stronger military capabilities to defend our sovereignty, security and regional peace, and no one can break o
ur resolve,’ she said.

GEAGEA MEETS ‘NATIONAL MODERATION’ BLOC DELEGATION


Lebanese Forces’ leader Samir Geagea met at his Maarab residence on Wednesday with a delegation of the “National Moderation” parliamentary bloc.

The delegation comprised lawmakers Walid Baarini, Sajih Attieh, and Mohammad Sleiman, in addition to former MP Hadi Hbeish.

“We discussed the terms of the initiative and we proposed to Geagea new ideas,” said Hbeish following the meeting. “The bloc will continue its visits to the other parliamentary blocs,” he added.

Al-Sudani receives members of the House of Representatives from Anbar Governorate

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received members of the House of Representatives from Anbar Governorate.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed the government’s keenness and interest in following up on all files that concern the citizens of the governorate, especially the service aspect, indicating the importance of integration in work between all authorities in order not to delay the laws and projects that the people need.

MIKATI AFFIRMS GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO COMBATING CORRUPTION


Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday affirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to combating and preventing corruption, stating that the government is diligently working on drafting and implementing all necessary reform measures. ‘This comes within the framework of an unprecedented political commitment to combat the scourge of corruption, which has played a significant role in Lebanon’s financial, economic, and social crises,’ the PM affirmed.

Mikati made these remarks during a meeting at the Grand Serail with a delegation of government experts from Mali and Cambodia, alongside State Minister for Administrative Development Affairs Ambassador Nada Riachy, who heads the technical committee tasked with combating corruption.

The joint delegation from Mali and Cambodia is evaluating Lebanon’s compliance with the preventive measures to combat corruption and asset recovery stipulated in Articles 2 and 5 of the UNCAC. This evaluation involves a series of meetings held over three days at the offi
ce of the State Minister for Administrative Development Affairs from April 23 to 25, with the participation of all relevant Lebanese official bodies responsible for implementing the convention, including the ministries of justice, interior, finance, and the Central Inspection, Disciplinary Council, and the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Prime Minister Mikati also met with the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Fadi Alameh. After the meeting, MP Alameh stated that the committee met with the Prime Minister to continu work on the refugee dossier, a process that has been ongoing for about 19 months.

The committee also discussed preparations for the upcoming Brussels Conference, which will focus on the issue of refugees. MP Alameh emphasized the need for Lebanon to present a unified stance and strategy regarding the refugee issue at the conference.

The committee’s meeting with the Prime Minister also touched upon recent developments in the southern border region and efforts to support
the Lebanese Army and security forces. MP Alameh noted that there is a clear and pragmatic view from many European countries on the refugee issue, and the committee hopes that Lebanon can form a lobby with its allies to gain understanding on this matter.

Additionally, Prime Minister Mikati met with a delegation from the Lebanese Olympic Committee, headed by Dr. Pierre Jalakh, who invited the Prime Minister to attend the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics in July, highlighting the importance of Lebanon’s presence at such events, especially with the participation of Lebanese volunteers from schools assisting in welcoming participating delegations.

SHEIKH AL-KHATIB RECEIVES KSA AMBASSADOR


Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, on Wednesday received at the Council’s headquarters, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, who congratulated him on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Discussions touched on the brotherly relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, as well as on developments in Lebanon and the region.

Ambassador Bukhari briefed Sheikh Al-Khatib on the latest developments and efforts made by the Quintet Committee to help Lebanon.

Sheikh Al-Khatib stressed ‘the necessity of strengthening Arab-Islamic solidarity through consultation, dialogue and cooperation between Arab and Islamic countries,’ hailing ‘the Saudi role in strengthening this solidarity.’

Al-Khatib also hoped that the efforts of the Quintet Committee will lead to finding solutions that will exit Lebanon from the current political impasse.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Wednesday, that the process of construction, reconstruction, and project implementation all require security stability.

A statement from his media office stated that Al-Sudani chaired, today, Wednesday, a meeting of security leaders in Anbar Governorate, in the context of his visit to the governorate today.

Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, that Anbar Governorate has importance and has privacy because it extends over a large area of Iraqi land, which requires a double effort in order to maintain security there, he pointed out: ‘The victories that were achieved over terrorism would not have occurred without the stance of the people of Anbar who supported the security forces, worked in all their formations and made sacrifices for the sake of their province and their homeland.’

The Prime Minister stated that the government has launched a broad program that includes priorities related to reconstruction and services that will improve the ser
vice reality for citizens throughout Iraq, stressing that the process of construction, reconstruction and project implementation all require security stability, and this falls on the responsibility of our heroic security forces that we need. And this must make more efforts, as it made previously in the war against terrorism.”

Al-Sudani directed, according to the statement, that the security man should reflect the image of the state as best as possible, and that he should deal with citizens in accordance with the standards of the law and human rights without transgressing or attacking people’s dignity.’/End
