Amman court releases 5 suspects in Salt Hospital case

The Amman Magistrates Court Tuesday released five suspects held in connection with the incident at a ward treating COVID-19 patients at Al-Salt Government Hospital last month, where seven people died due to a lack of oxygen.

A judicial source told Petra Tuesday that the court decided to set free the suspects pending the case, after the expiration of the one-month detention period for misdemeanors in accordance with the Law of Criminal Procedure.

Thirteen people were arrested as the Public Prosecution opened an investigation into the case, which stirred a public outcry and prompted the resignation of the health minister, the hospital’s director and a number of ministry officials.
