WHAT IS THIS ABOUT: On November 8, 2018, Cavco revealed in an SEC filing that it had “received a subpoena from the SEC’s Division of Enforcement requesting certain documents relating to, among other items, trading in the stock of another public company.” On this news, Cavco share price fell $49.48 per share, or over 23%, to close at $165.20 per share on November 9, 2018.

On February 4, 2019, Cavco revealed that it had received requests for additional documents. Cavco further disclosed that it spent, and expected to spend, millions of dollars on legal and insurance expenses in relation to the SEC’s subpoenas and Cavco’s independent investigation into the matter. Bahrain welcomes short-term ceasefire agreement and humanitarian arrangements in Sudan

Bahrain welcomed signing the agreement on Short-Term Ceasefire and Humanitarian Arrangements between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the Republic of Sudan.

The agreement was signed in Jeddah and facilitated by Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted Bahrain’s appreciation for the Saudi and American efforts to sign this agreement within the framework of ensuring calm and cease-fire and facilitating the provision of humanitarian and relief aid and basic services in Sudan in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law that referred in the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry hopes that the agreement constitutes a pivotal step on the road to a permanent cessation of armed conflict and a comprehensive peaceful settlement through the participation of all parties in an inclusive national dialogue that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people to achieve security, peace and prosperity.

KFH-Bahrain concludes ‘Wa’ed’ graduate trainee program

Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain (KFH) has concluded its six month ‘Wa’ed’ Graduate Trainee Program.

Wa’ed is a customized program aimed at training and enhancing the employability of Bahraini graduates and equipping them with the necessary skills required to succeed in the job market.

The program commenced last September whereby 20 graduates have been enrolled in the program and completed its first phase which involved one month of formal training, 15 of the graduate trainees have subsequently completed the second phase of the program which was comprised of two months of on the job training in the various functions of the bank.

Six graduate trainees have successfully completed the final phase of the program which entailed further three months of on the job training, problem solving activities and innovative ideas development and implementation with the support of assigned mentors.

Five of the graduates who have successfully completed the program have been hired on full time basis, and have been assigned to various positions within the Bank.

“This program comes as part of the Bank’s ongoing commitment to investing in the development and enablement of Bahraini youth. We are glad to welcome the graduates on board and see them occupy full time positions within key business and control functions of the Bank,” the Managing Director and CEO of KFH – Bahrain, Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat

GCC Secretary General welcomes ceasefire agreement in Sudan

Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Jeddah between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The secretary general praised the diplomatic efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States in bringing together the views of the warring parties in Sudan to establish a ceasefire and promote peace.

He noted that the 32nd Arab Summit addressed Sudan’s issues and called for a lasting truce and dialogue.

Albudaiwi confirmed the support of GCC countries to promote peace in Sudan through dialogue, wishing the people of Sudan further peace and stability.

Bahrain condoles with Italy over flood victims

Bahrain extended its utmost sympathy and solidarity with Italy following the floods and landslides that swept the Emilia-Romagna region.

The floods resulted in the death of a number of people and the evacuation of thousands from their homes as well as damage to the infrastructure.

Foreign Affairs Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and the friendly Italian people and the families of victims, wishing for a speedy recovery for the injured, and safety for all residents.

GCC Secretary General highlights GCC Permanent Mission to UN role

Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) visited the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the GCC to the United Nations.

Albudaiwi highlighted that the council contributes to preventing crimes, achieving criminal justice, and the use of digital evidence in criminal justice and combating cybercrime.

The secretary general’s was received by Dr. Ali Abdullah Al Jowder, Head of the Permanent Mission of the GCC to the UN.

He was briefed on the tasks assigned to the mission, and praised the efforts exerted by the members and their role in following up on issues related to the mission’s tasks.

Integrity Commission: Summoning of a former MP on charges of harming public money

The Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a summons order against a former MP in the Parliament, on the grounds that he caused damage to state funds.

The Commission’s Investigation Department stated that the judge of the Baquba Investigation Court, which specializes in integrity issues, decided to bring in a female MP in the House of Representatives for the previous session, regarding the issue of her receiving a car from the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, at her request and not returning her to the Muqdadiya Municipality Directorate after the end of her membership in the House of Representatives.

She added that the judge of the competent court issued the summons order, based on the provisions of Article (341) of the amended Penal Code No. (111 of 1969).

Article (341) provides for the imposition of a penalty of imprisonment on every public official or person entrusted with a public service who, through his grave fault, causes serious damage to the funds or interests of the entity with which he works or is connected by virtue of his position, or to the funds or interests of the persons entrusted to him – if this results from gross negligence in performing his job – or for abuse of power or for gross breach of his job duties./End

Al-Sudani stresses to the NATO mission the need to continue developing the performance and capabilities of the Iraqi forces in facing security challenges

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, received today, Sunday, the new Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission in Iraq, Jose Antonio.

The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement that “Al-Sudani bid farewell to the former Commander of the mission, Giovanni Iannucci, after the end of his duties in Iraq, in the presence of the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Military Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”

He added, “During the meeting, they discussed paths of cooperation between Iraq and NATO countries, in the areas of providing advice and training the Iraqi security forces.”

Al-Sudani praised the role of the former Commander of the mission, during his tenure in Iraq, wishing him “success in his future duties,” welcoming “the new head of the NATO mission.

He stressed the need to continue developing the performance and capabilities of the Iraqi forces in facing security challenges, which is one of the government’s priorities in managing the security file.

For his part, the former Commander of the NATO mission thanked the Prime Minister for his support for the mission’s work, pointing to “the completion of the cooperation program with Iraq through the new Commander who recently assumed his duties.”/ End

Turkey condemns the Israeli Minister of National Security’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the far-right Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, storming Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Al-Quds.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “We strongly condemn the Israeli Minister of National Security’s storming of (Al-Qudsi) Holy Mosque today, May 21, which is a flagrant violation of international law.”

In its statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry affirmed that “it is absolutely unacceptable for members of the Israeli government to challenge the historical status of the Noble Sanctuary, and to engage in provocative and fascist practices.”

Turkey again called on the Israeli government to immediately stop any provocative act that violates the historical status of the Noble Sanctuary based on international law, and to act responsibly. / End
