FM participates in Arab League meeting on Syrian crisis developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, on Sunday participated in the extraordinary session of Arab Council at the ministerial level, called for by Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt to discuss Syrian crisis developments. Safadi took part in the extraordinary session held at Egypt’s invitation, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, to discuss developments related to the Sudanese file, and in another session held at Palestine’s request to review developments in the Palestinian territories. On the sidelines of the meetings, Safadi held talks seperately with Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, Saudi FM, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Morocco’s top diplomat, Nasser Bourita. Safadi also held a tripartite meeting with his Saudi counterpart, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Kuwaiti FM, Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah.

Applications open for media accreditation requests to cover Crown Prince’s wedding

The Media and Communications Directorate at the Royal Hashemite Court announces the opening of registration for Arab and foreign media wishing to cover events related to the wedding of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Miss Rajwa Khalid Alseif, on June 1. Those interested may send accreditation requests to w23media@rhc.jo, and will receive a response requesting the necessary information for registration, and providing guidelines for media coverage. Only representatives of Arab and international TV channels, as well as international agencies will be considered for accreditation. Applicants must complete and submit the received accreditation form and any required documentation to be considered. All applications will undergo a review and approval process. Only a limited number of passes are available and accreditation cannot be guaranteed for all applicants. The 23rd of May will be the deadline for submitting media accreditation requests. Accredited media professionals will be notified of the dates and locations of receiving their accreditation badges via e-mail. The marriage ceremony of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Miss Rajwa Khalid Alseif will take place at Zahran Palace, after which the wedding procession will head to Al Husseiniya Palace, where the wedding reception and dinner will take place. The wedding reception and dinner banquet are closed to the media. The media accreditation pass will provide the holder with access to the Media Centre at Zahran Park, across the street from Zahran Palace, or to select locations along the motorcade route, depending on the type of badge. There will be no media access to palace grounds. Broadcast frequencies will be provided once available, while photos from the wedding will be uploaded on the RHC’s Flickr account (https://www.flickr.com/photos/rhcjo/).

Basra Operations Command Denies The Security Situation Is Out Of Control Inside Al-Zubair District, South Of The Governorate

The Basra Operations Command denied what was circulated by some satellite channels about the security situation getting out of control inside Al-Zubair district, south of the governorate.

The leadership of Basra Operations Command said in a statement, “This news is inaccurate and untrue, as it is a personal clan case between cousins from a clan known for the district and has nothing to do with sectarianism.”

It indicated that the security forces are extending their control in Al-Zubair district and pursuing those responsible for the quarrel that claimed the life of one of its members.

The leadership called on all satellite channels to be accurate in transmitting news.

The President Of The Republic Decides To Return The Iraqi Artifacts Lent To Britain During His Return

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, decided to return the Iraqi antiquities borrowed by Britain during his return to the country.

A presidential statement said that a ceremony took place in the building of the Iraqi embassy in London, on Friday the fifth of May, with the follow-up and blessing of the President of the Republic, Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid, to receive (6) thousand antiquities from Britain that had been borrowed from Iraq for study purposes since 1923.

The statement indicated that this came on the sidelines of his visit to the United Kingdom to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, where the President of the Republic decided to return the artifacts from London to Baghdad during his return to the country after the conclusion of his current visit to Britain, and to hand over the pieces duly to the Iraqi Museum.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, the Iraqi Ambassador to Britain, Jaafar Al-Sadr, the Director-General of British Museums, and the Director-General of the Museum of London, in addition to a large number of media professionals, specialists and prospectors from Iraq and Britain.

Independent MP: Reducing The Budget Deficit Is Politically By A Certain Percentage

Independent MP Kadhim Al-Fayyad affirmed that reducing the budget deficit is political by a certain percentage.

He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: The budget deficit expected to be approved during the current month is large and needs important steps to reduce it.

Al-Fayyad added: The decline in the budget deficit rates is not entirely economic, but it has an important percentage on the political side, which is if al-Sudani is allowed to follow his reform footsteps, we will see a clear reduction of the deficit.

Parliament committees are still in continuous discussions and hosting ministers and governors in order to reach an appropriate formula for approving a general budget for the state for three years.

An Earthquake Hits The Syrian City Of Hama

The Syrian Center for Seismology announced that an earthquake of 3.2 degrees on the Richter scale of 9 degrees was recorded today, Sunday, east of Hama, about 77 kilometers away.

The center stated in a statement reported by the Syrian News Agency, SANA, that the tremor occurred at 37.595 longitude and 35.036 latitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Kuwait welcomes Saudi-US initiative for Sudan ceasefire talks

Kuwait welcomed the Saudi-US initiative to start initial talks held between Sudanese representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in Jeddah earlier on Saturday, said Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a press statement, the ministry praised Saudi-US efforts for urging Sudanese parties to seriously get engaged in talks and dialogue in a bid to de-escalate tensions and halt military operations, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s stand based on calling for an immediate cessation of escalation and fighting in order to maintain Sudan’s security and stability.

Bahrain, Nauru sign statement on establishing diplomatic relations

Bahrain and Nauru signed a joint statement on establishing diplomatic relations based on the mutual desire to develop peaceful and cooperative relations, according to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN) and the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.

The statement was signed by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Rowaiei, the Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York and Ambassador Margo Deiye, the delegate Permanent Mission of Nauru to the UN in New York.

Shura Council praises local press

Shura Council expressed its pride in local press’ excellent competency on the Bahraini Press Day on May 7.

It affirmed Bahraini press competencies and experiences, which have contributed to highlighting the national achievements witnessed by the Kingdom, during the reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Shura Council noted that HM the King directed special care for the role of press and media in achieving prosperity in the Kingdom, affirming its rights in circulating news, presenting constructive opinions, and transmitting reliable information and data, through His Majesty’s support for the principles of freedom of expression.

Shura Council praised the government’s support, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and its keenness to encourage journalists and media professionals in all media outlets in Bahrain, to perform their role with honesty and responsibility and raise awareness in the community.
