Oil heading for weekly gain of 6%

Amman, Oil prices fell on Friday but are on track to gain more than 6 per cent this week against the backdrop of “strong” indications of demand growth in China, the largest importer of crude oil.

Brent crude futures fell 17 cents, 0.2 per cent, to $83.86 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 12 cents, 0.2 per cent, to $78.27, according to CNBC.

Brent jumped 6.7% this week, and WTI rose 6.2%, recouping most of the previous week’s losses.

Crude prices see rise in global market

Washington, Oil prices rose during Friday trading amid a dollar decline against most major currencies, continuing its gains despite the jump in US crude stocks last week.

According to the Washington Post, the Energy Information Administration revealed on Thursday that oil stocks in America increased by 19 million barrels to 439.6 million barrels. Analysts expected them to decrease by about two million barrels.

US Nymex crude futures for February delivery increased by 1.4 per cent to $78.4 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for March delivery rose by 1.7 per cent to $84.07 a barrel.

Aqaba receives 2 million tourists in 2022: official

Aqaba, Nidal Majali, a commissioner for tourism and environment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Friday said Aqaba had received two million visitors in 2022 with a million hotel reservations.

Majali said in a statement that there is cooperation with the Aqaba Chamber of Trade and the private sector to encourage tourism in Aqaba through the “Addafa Janoubi” carnival, which was launched on Thursday.

He noted that the carnival is part of an integrated system that would last for 18 months to enhance tourism so that the visit to Aqaba is not only for shopping but also for entertainment and adventure.

Chinese Engineering Company delegation visits Madaba municipality on cooperation

Madaba, A Chinese Engineering Company delegation visited the Greater Madaba Municipality for cultural, scientific and economic cooperation with several official bodies and civil society institutions.

According to a statement on Friday, Mayor Aref Rawajih said the visit aims to sign a cooperation agreement, explore investment opportunities in Madaba and convey details about it to Chinese businesses.

Rawajih gave a briefing on the municipality of Madaba and the areas of investment in the governorate, noting Madaba’s geographical and economic features.

The delegation expressed interest in partnership with the municipality of Madaba, providing grants for service projects and mulling over investment projects since Madaba is a tourist attraction.

UK economy grows 0.1% in November

London, The UK economy achieved “unexpected” growth in November 2022, which reduces the risk of the country entering a stage of economic recession, according to analysts.

The British National Statistics Office Friday said the British economy recorded a growth of 0.1 per cent in November, as the services sector continues to grow despite the cost of living increase.

The Office added that the percentage represents a decrease from the GDP growth rate achieved in October, which amounted to 0.5 per cent.
