وسيتم تطوير مشروع “عايدة” بالتعاون مع الشركة العُمانية للتنمية السياحية (مجموعة عُمران)، الذراع التنفيذية للسلطنة لتنمية وتطوير القطاع السياحي العُماني، وتبلغ قيمته 4 مليارات دولار أمريكي، وبمساحة إجمالية تناهز 3,5 مليون متر مربع. ومن المقرر أن تبدأ أعمال تطويره اعتباراً من الربع الأول من عام 2023، وتستمر على مدى 10 سنوات.

‫شبكة تلفزيون الصين الدولية (CGTN): الصين تسلط الضوء على دور دول آسيا والمحيط الهادئ في مواجهة التحديات العالمية

بكين، 19 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2022 / PRNewswire / – تحت عنوان “افتح، تواصل، توازن”، انطلق الاجتماع التاسع والعشرون لقادة منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ يوم الجمعة، في بانكوك، وهو أول اجتماع وجاهي من نوعه منذ العام 2018 .

وقد أصبح صوت الصين في دائرة الضوء حيث أن عضوية البلاد في منتدى التعاون الاقتصادي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ لم تعزز تنميتها فحسب، بل ساهمت أيضًا وبشكل كبير في الاقتصادات الإقليمية والعالمية.

 وإذ سلط الضوء على أن منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ هي “موطننا وقوة النمو الاقتصادي العالمي”، شدد الرئيس الصيني شي جنبينغ في كلمته التي ألقاها خلال اجتماع يوم الجمعة على أهمية بناء مجتمع آسيا والمحيط الهادئ مع مستقبل مشترك.

وقال شي “لقد وصل العالم اليوم إلى مفترق طرق تاريخي آخر، وهذا جعل منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ أكثر أهمية وبروزًا في مكانتها ودورها”.

ودعا شي إلى بذل جهود مشتركة في بناء مجتمع آسيا والمحيط الهادئ ذي مستقبل مشترك، وشدد على عدة جوانب – السلام والاستقرار، والازدهار للجميع، والنظافة والجمال، والمستقبل المشترك.

كما أكد على التمسك بالعدالة والعدالة الدولية، والتمسك بالانفتاح والشمولية، والسعي إلى تنمية خضراء ومنخفضة الكربون، والالتزام بالتعاون من أجل الوصول إلى الهدف.

جدير بالذكر أن مكانة المنطقة لها أهمية كبيرة في العالم.  فيبلغ عدد سكانها مجتمعة 2.9 مليار نسمة، وتشكل اقتصادات الأبيك الـ21 أكثر من 60٪ من إجمالي الناتج المحلي العالمي ونحو نصف التجارة العالمية.

تعمل منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ (آبيك) في مجالات مثل تحرير التجارة والاستثمار، وتسهيل الأعمال التجارية، والتعاون الاقتصادي والتقني، بهدف تحقيق النمو والازدهار المستدامين في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ.

وخفض صندوق النقد الدولي توقعاته للنمو في المنطقة إلى 4 بالمئة هذا العام و4.3 بالمئة العام المقبل بفارق 0.9 و0.8 نقطة مئوية على التوالي عن توقعاته لشهر نيسان/أبريل.

وقالت كريشنا سرينيفاسان، مديرة إدارة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ في صندوق النقد الدولي، إنه على الرغم من خفض توقعات الصندوق للنمو، في المنطقة تظل آسيا نقطة مضيئة نسبيًا في اقتصاد عالمي يزداد ضعفًا.

الصين ملتزمة بالشراكات الإقليمية

منذ انضمام الصين إلى منتدى التعاون الاقتصادي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ قبل 31 عامًا، التزمت الصين بشدة بالشراكات الإقليمية والتجارة الحرة والاستثمار، وقدمت مساهمات كبيرة لنظام تجاري متعدد الأطراف واقتصاد عالمي مفتوح.

وقال شي في اجتماع أبيك “ستعمل الصين مع الأطراف الأخرى على التنفيذ الكامل وعالي الجودة للشراكة الاقتصادية الإقليمية الشاملة “.

وأضاف أن الدولة ستواصل العمل من أجل الانضمام إلى الاتفاقية الشاملة والمتقدمة للشراكة عبر المحيط الهادئ واتفاقية شراكة الاقتصاد الرقمي.

تغطي اتفاقية الشراكة الإقليمية الاقتصادية الشاملة، وهي أكبر اتفاقية تجارة حرة في العالم، 10 دول أعضاء في رابطة أمم جنوب شرق آسيا وشركائها الخمسة في اتفاقية التجارة الحرة:  الصين واليابان وجمهورية كوريا وأستراليا ونيوزيلندا.  وكانت الصين من بين أوائل الدول التي صادقت على اتفاقية الشراكة الإقليمية الاقتصادية الشاملة العام الماضي.

يُعتقد أن كلا من الشراكة الإقليمية الاقتصادية الشاملة والاتفاقية الشاملة والمتقدمة للشراكة عبر المحيط الهادئ يمثلان مسارات قابلة للتطبيق نحو منطقة التجارة الحرة الأوسع في آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، والتي تهدف ضم الدول الأعضاء الـ 21 في منتدى التعاون الاقتصادي لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ إلى تأسيسها.

ستدرس الصين عقد منتدى الحزام والطريق الثالث للتعاون الدولي العام المقبل لتوفير قوة دفع جديدة للتنمية والازدهار في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ والعالم، وفقًا لما ذكره الرئيس الصيني.

وفي ترديد لموضوع آبيك 2022، وعدت بكين بافتتاح عالي المستوى مع عقد معرض الصين الدولي الخامس للواردات في شنغهاي الذي حقق نتائج رائعة في وقت سابق من هذا الشهر.

تم التوصل إلى صفقات مبدئية بقيمة إجمالية قدرها 73.5 مليار دولار خلال معرض الاستيراد، وهو شهادة على السوق العملاقة في الصين والعديد من الفرص التجارية فيها.

UN envoy condemns Israeli extremists’ attacks on Palestinians in Hebron

United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, early Sunday condemned yesterday’s violent attacks by Israeli extremists against Palestinian residents in the Old City of Hebron.

In a statement, the UN envoy warned “such acts may aggravate an already tense environment,” noting that “all have a responsibility to act against extremists and to speak out against all acts of violence and incitement.”

Jordan celebrates World Antimicrobial Awareness Week

A ceremony was held in Amman on Sunday to commemorate World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW), an annual global campaign to raise knowledge and understanding of antimicrobial resistance.

The ceremony was patronized by Her Royal Highness Princess Alia bint al-Hussein. This is year’s edition of WAAW is being celebrated under the theme “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together”.

The most recent research shows that antimicrobial resistance rates are rising in nations of all income levels, leading to an increase in the prevalence of common diseases that are incurable and an increased risk of needing life-saving medical procedures like major surgery and cancer chemotherapy.

In this regard, Jordan has advanced in combating antimicrobial resistance, according to Minister of Health Firas Hawari. He noted that the Kingdom joined the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) in 2018 and set up a national antimicrobial resistance surveillance system.

However, there is still much work to be done to combat antimicrobial and antibiotic resistance, according to the minister, who added that effective frameworks governing antimicrobial supply and use are required.

Hawari expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Organization for Animal Health, and the United Nations Environment Program for their cooperation under the banner of the “One Health Approach” and the provision of the necessary technical support in aiding Jordan’s efforts to combat this phenomenon.

Agriculture Minister Khaled Hanifat addressed the issue of antimicrobial resistance, explaining that his ministry promotes the prudent use and management of antimicrobial products in animals and keeps tabs on the production and import of veterinary medicines.

Nabil Assaf, the FAO representative in Jordan, stated in the same context that combating antimicrobial resistance necessitates a “one health approach,” which unites the efforts of the human and animal health sectors to change how antimicrobials are used in the best possible way.

Antimicrobial resistance, he continued, poses a global threat and has a number of negative effects, including the inability to treat illnesses, which increases mortality and causes serious or long-lasting illnesses, as well as production loss, reduced livelihoods, and effects on food security.

Jamila Rabi, WHO representative in Jordan, for her part, emphasized the necessity and urgency of addressing the threat posed by antimicrobial resistance and urged multisectoral cooperation.

Deal signed to connect IXPs of Aqaba, Palestine

The Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), a project created by Jordanian entrepreneurs, and the Palestinian Ministry of Telecom and Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding to link the Palestinian government’s Internet Exchange Point (IXP) with Aqaba’s to give telecommunications companies, Internet service providers, and Palestinian digital networks access to digital content available at ADH’s IXP.

The deal, signed on the sidelines of the MENA ICT Forum 2022, will enable Palestinian companies to exchange high-quality data with global content providers and Jordanian, Arab, and international telecommunication companies existing at Aqaba’s neutral IXP, AqabaIX, according to a statement issued Sunday by the Ministry of Digital Economy.

Consumer protection MoU inked by Jordan, Oman released in Official Gazette

Articles of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Jordan and Oman in the consumer protection field were recently issued in the Official Gazette.

The MoU provides the basis to exchange information, visits, expertise and studies related to consumer protection area, organize training programs and benefit from related workshops and conferences.

The memo also launches joint awareness programs and activate joint “strategic” cooperation and coordinating positions at international and regional organizations working in this field.

In addition, the MoU sets a joint mechanism to follow up on recalls of imported goods, test and withdraw harmful items, if available, and issue mutual notices on the tests results.

October report on aid programs, services to Jordan’s underprivileged households released

Ministry of Social Development issued a statistical report on its key services and assistance provided by National Aid Fund (NAF) and affiliated associations to a number of beneficiaries and the service type over last October.

In a statement to “Petra,” on Sunday, the ministry’s media spokesperson, Ashraf Khreis, said the report showed that the ministry’s directorates provided cash assistance to 2,693 families, while 2,318 households benefited from in-kind aid.

In addition, he said 8,359 studies were conducted to grant health insurance to underprivileged families, and 82 others aimed to issue exemption from treatment expenses.

Meanwhile, he said 9 nurseries were licensed, while 5 others were warned. Number of requests to purchase homes for underprivileged families hit 141, adding that 50 households applied for housing maintenance.

During October, he said the ministry’s Anti-vagrancy Department seized 1,298 beggars countrywide, carried out 431 inspection campaigns, and conducted 896 studies related to juvenile cases, while its staff examined 1,606 applications to issue exemption from work permit fees.

According to the NAF’s work report for last October, the number of new families benefiting from the recurring monthly aid program stood at 1,253, while 852 new households benefited from the urgent and quick emergency financial aid and new 16 others benefited from the physical rehabilitation program.

Cabinet approves civil status draft law

A Cabinet session, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, on Sunday approved a draft law amending Civil Status Law for 2022.

The draft law comes to address loopholes in practices arising from altering data contained in the civil status records to expand and extend effect of judicial ruling to plaintiff and his/her additional family members.

The Council of Ministers also approved an amended bylaw of the administrative organization system for Independent Election Commission (IEC) for 2022, aimed to enable IEC create new organizational units, in light of the recent constitutional amendments related to women empowerment and establish an organizational unit to manage projects and follow up on IEC’s international relations as part of its tasks and powers.

The bylaw aims to promote women’s political participation and enable their engagement in public life.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom’s support for the UNICEF Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action, which was recently launched within the activities of the 27th Conference of the Parties to Climate Change in Egypt.

The Cabinet approved recommendations of the settlement and reconciliation committee to settle pending tax status of 542 companies and taxpayers with due financial obligations, in accordance with provisions of the Income Tax Law and General Sales Tax Law.

The Council approved the committee’s recommendations to settle outstanding claims between 21 taxpayers and/or violators, and Jordan Customs Department (JCD), who must pay the full due amounts with any fees, taxes or expenses within a two month-period from the date of this decision.

On the other hand, the Cabinet decided to appoint Dr. Zaid Mohammad Hussein Nawaisah as Secretary General of the Ministry of Government Communications.

House speaker, IEC chief affirm cooperation to serve higher national interests

The Lower House Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, on Sunday received Chairman of Independent Election Commission (IEC), Musa Maitaah.

Safadi said House will start its work, in the next stage, based on contents of His Majesty’s Speech from the Throne, in a way that contributes to improving performance and meeting citizens’ aspirations.

The House, he noted, is “keen” to cooperate with the various state authorities, given the “great” future responsibilities, which require integrated action to serve Jordan’s higher national interests.

IEC, he noted, assumes a national responsibility now, following the recent constitutional amendments entrusting the commission with examining requests to establish political parties and following up on their affairs.

Lauding IEC’s “remarkable” development in its work, he said the commission won Royal honoring recently for its role in upgrading the management of the electoral process and advancing its performance.

For his part, Maitaah said IEC is committed to carrying out its constitutional responsibilities in implementing the electoral and party laws with “integrity and impartiality.”
