Normal summer conditions forecast during Eid al-Adha holiday – JMD

Normal summer conditions are expected in the hilly areas and plains, while it will be hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and the port city of Aqaba, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

Winds will be northwesterly moderate, picking up at times, the JMD added.

Temperatures in the capital Amma will range between a high of 31 degrees Celsius and a low of 20 degrees.

Highs in the port city of Aqaba will hike up to 41 degrees during the day, sliding to 27 degrees at night.

Jordanians perform Eid al-Adha prayer

Jordanians across the country, on Saturday, performed Eid al-Adha prayer in various mosques and places identified by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Judge Zeid al-Kilani, during Eid sermon, congratulated Muslims on the holy occasion that comes after Hajj (the greater Muslim pilgrimage).

Also, during the sermon at the Sports City, Gate No. 3, in the presence of Interior Minister and the representative of the prime minister Mazin Faraya, al-Kilani stressed the need for reform between people and the virtues of forgiveness and tolerance.

Flag at half-mast at Royal Hashemite Court over passing of Japan’s former PM

The Royal Hashemite Court on Saturday announced that the flag at its main entrance would be flown at half-mast for three days, in memory of Japan’s former prime minister Abe Shinzo, who was killed in a terrorist attack on Friday and was a good friend of Jordan and a leader respected around the world.

Army chief joins comrades-in-arms in performing Eid al-Adha prayer

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen Yousef Huneiti, on Saturday, joined the Central Military Zone personnel in performing Eid al-Adha prayer, where he was received by their commander Brig. Gen. Abdullah Huneiti.

The army chief listened to Eid sermon delivered by a representative of the Mufti of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.

The representative said that said that the Arab Army is the carrier of Islam message which closely connects the Arab Army with the Islamic holy sites.

In this context, Huneiti visited the Borders Control Department, where he was received by its commander Brig. Gen. Ahmad Khlifat.

Huneiti listened to a briefing on operational, training and logistic issues concerning the Central Militray Zone and the Borders Control Department.

Huneiti conveyed greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army to his comrades-in-arms, praising their efforts in implementing their duties.

Foreign ministry urges Jordanians in Sri Lanka to exercise caution

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates urged Jordanians in Sri Lanka to exercise extreme caution, avoid places of demonstrations and abide by instructions issued by the local authorities due to the delicate security situation there.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry called on citizens wishing to travel to Sri Lanka to postpone their travel during this period.

King exchanges Eid Al Adha wishes with Egypt president, receives call from Israeli PM

His Majesty King Abdullah, in a phone call on Saturday, exchanged Eid Al Adha wishes with Egypt President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

King Abdullah also received a phone call from Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who expressed best wishes to His Majesty on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
