احتضنت جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد (PMU) قوة الاختراع بالكامل. أنشأت الجامعة مركز براءات الاختراع التابع لعمادة البحث العلمي بالنسبة للمبتدئين. يدعم مركز براءات الاختراع حماية الأنشطة العلمية الإبداعية والابتكار والاكتشافات التي يشارك فيها أعضاء هيئة التدريس والموظفون والطلاب وغيرهم من المشاركين في برامج جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد.

أعلن مركز براءات الاختراع مؤخرًا، للاستمرار في هذه المهمة، عن افتتاح أول فرع محلي للأكاديمية الوطنية للمخترعين (NAI ) في الشرق الأوسط. تضم الأكاديمية الوطنية للمخترعين ( (NAI ، وهي منظمة غير ربحية مقرها في الولايات المتحدة، أكثر من 4000 مخترع فردي منتسب إلى أكثر من 250 مؤسسة حول العالم، بما في ذلك 30 مؤسسة وجامعة خارج الولايات المتحدة. تساعد الأكاديمية الوطنية للمخترعين ( NAI) في التعرف على الاختراعات التي قام بها أعضائها وإصدارها لصالح المجتمع العالمي.

كدليل على الروح الإبداعية في جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد، أعلنت الجامعة أيضًا مؤخرًا أن أعضائها قد ضاعفوا عدد براءات الاختراع المسجلة من قبل مكتب الولايات المتحدة لبراءات الاختراع والعلامات التجارية (USPTO) ليصل إلى 23. يمثل هذا الرقم زيادة هائلة قدرها 15 براءة اختراع إضافية منذ عام 2020 فقط. تغطي براءات الاختراع مجموعة غنية من المجالات العلمية بما في ذلك الطاقة والذكاء الاصطناعي، بالإضافة إلى الهندسة الكهربائية والمدنية والميكانيكية.

سيعمل الفرع المحلي مع مركز براءات الاختراع بجامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد عن كثب، والذي أصبح مركزًا في الحرم الجامعي للمبتكرين، وموردًا مهمًا لإعداد طلب براءات الاختراع، والذي مهمته الرئيسية، دعم حماية الأنشطة العلمية الإبداعية والابتكار والاكتشاف في جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد.

بالإضافة إلى تمثيل نطاق البحث في جامعة الأمير محمد بن فهد، فلأعضاء الجامعة حاليًا أكثر من 400 مقال أكاديمي مصنف في Scopus ، بما في ذلك مقالتان منشورتان في مجلة Nature المرموقة.

Arab Parliament commends outcomes of Jordanian-Egyptian-Saudi talks

The Arab Parliament commended the great efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to preserve the Arab nation’s capabilities.

The Arab Parliament also commended the outcomes of the visits of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the deputy prime minister and minister of defence of Saudi Arabia for Egypt and Jordan, especially at the economic level.

Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel Al Asoomi, said the visit of Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Egypt and Jordan is a historic one as it is the first visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to Jordan after assuming the mandate of the Crown Prince 5 years ago, especially since it was agreed on the importance of enhancing strategic political, economic, military and security cooperation between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Al Asoomi stressed the importance of continuous coordination between pivotal countries in the region, which constitutes a safety net for the stability of the Arab region and contributes to strengthening Arab national security, especially in light of current challenges facing the Arab region.

Canada’s inflation rate hits highest point in 40 years

Canada’s inflation rate rose at its fastest pace in almost 40 years.

Statistics Canada reported Wednesday that an uptick in the price of gasoline was a major factor causing the overall inflation rate to hit 7.7 per cent.

Gas prices rose by 12 per cent in the month of May alone, and are up by 48 per cent compared to where they were a year ago.

Food prices were also a major factor to the upside, with grocery bills increasing by 9.7 per cent over the past year. Within the food category, the cost of edible fats and oils skyrocketed 30 per cent, the fastest increase on record.

AQACHEI VP, Libya’s Misurata University delegation discuss cooperation

Vice President of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI), Zaid Al-Anbar, met with a delegation from Libya’s Misurata University, chaired by Cultural Counselor at the Libyan Embassy, Ahmed Al-Dweik.

The meeting covered accreditation requirements for public and private accreditation and quality assurance for higher education institutions and the role of accreditation and quality in raising the efficiency of higher education locally and in the Arab world.

In the meeting, Al-Anber highlighted the AQACHEI achievements at local and international levels, the most important of which is the Jordanian national framework for qualifications, institutional and program accreditation, quality assurance, classification, proficiency exam, joint and hosted academic programs with international higher education institutions, and the AQACHEI’s acquirement of International recognition by (WFME) to accredit medical schools.

Al-Anbar lauded the advanced level of Misurata University in all fields, especially in scientific research, noting that the University of Misurata is promising, and has many distinguished medical, engineering and literary academic programs.

He called for the exchange of educational and research expertise and cooperation in the implementation of joint scientific research between Misurata University and Jordanian universities, the organization of seminars and scientific conferences, the exchange programs for students and researchers, and benefiting from the capabilities of the two countries in the field of developing and strengthening the higher education, and activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the AQACHEI and the Libyan authority for accreditation and quality.

The Libyan delegation commended the AQACHEI’s efforts in supporting and serving higher education institutions to reach global competitiveness and achieve its goals.

The meeting was attended by Vice-Dean of the University of Misurata for Scientific Affairs, Muhammad Al-Sharkasi, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Libyan Embassy, ??Muhammad Abu Gharsa, the President’s Assistant for Quality and Classification Affairs, Zaid Al-Bashairah, and the President’s Assistant for Accreditation Affairs, Saad Bani Muhammad.

Media delegation accompanying Saudi Crown Prince visits Mawdoo3.com

The media delegation accompanying His Highness, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, visited the “Mawdoo3.com” company headquarters in Amman.

Members of the delegation commended the company’s role in supporting the Arabic language in the region through artificial intelligence technologies, and were briefed on the company’s other services provided to the government sector in general, such as “web” and “smart writing corrector pen” services.

The visit included signing of agreements and memoranda of cooperation between Mawdoo3.com, in the presence of its CEO, Rami Qawasmi, and major Saudi institutions, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between Mawdoo3.com and several Saudi media entities through services of Mawdoo3, the largest Arabic website in the world, with more than 100 million visitors per month, providing specialized and reliable information in addition to artificial intelligence solutions.

The visit also included honoring Saudi Journalists Association (SJA) Chairman Khalid amad Al-Malik, and President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Fahad Al-Aqran, in appreciation of their efforts in achieving the KSA vision 2030 regarding the care and development of the Arabic language through artificial intelligence technologies and in line with Mawdoo3.com’s vision.

Kremlin threatens retaliation over cargo restrictions on Russian enclave

The Russian Foreign Ministry Wednesday said it is taking “practical measures” against Lithuania in retaliation over blocking cargo to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said, “As for retaliatory measures, possible counter-steps are being worked out in an interdepartmental format. Both Lithuania and the EU have been notified through their diplomatic missions in Moscow that such actions are inadmissible and that the steps taken should be overturned and the situation put back on the legal, legitimate track.

“If this fails to be done, then, of course, retaliatory moves will be inevitable. This was emphasised at all levels in Moscow.”

Jordan, Saudi Arabia release joint communiqué at conclusion of Saudi crown prince’s visit

A joint communiqué was released after the official visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the deputy prime minister and minister of defence of Saudi Arabia, to Jordan on Wednesday.

The communiqué reiterated the importance of joint action to enhance cooperation in economic and investment-related fields, as well as the need to follow up on the outcomes of the 17th meetings of the Jordanian-Saudi Joint Committee, and the resulting agreements.

Jordan expressed appreciation of Saudi support for development projects in various fields, while Saudi Arabia commended Jordan’s launch of the Economic Modernisation Vision for the upcoming 10 years, the communiqué said the two countries noted the need to find suitable means to address the fluctuation in the prices of oil, energy, and food.

The two sides, in the joint statement, reaffirmed the importance of maintaining cooperation in electric connectivity projects between the two countries and bolstering cooperation in the field of energy efficiency.

The communiqué said the two sides welcome Saudi investments in renewable energy projects in Jordan.

Saudi Arabia expressed appreciation of Jordan’s support for Riyadh’s candidacy to host World Expo 2030, according to the statement.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia reiterated the need for launching serious and effective international efforts to create a political horizon to resolve the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution.

The statement reaffirmed the need to cease all illegal Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution and the opportunity to reach peace.

In addition, the two countries stressed the need for Israel to respect the historical and legal status-quo in Jerusalem, and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, as well as the role of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, as the sole entity responsible for the administration of Al Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

Saudi Arabia highlighted the importance of the historical Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and its role in safeguarding holy sites, as well as the city’s Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity.

The two sides reaffirmed that the security of Jordan and Saudi Arabia is the same.

Jordan stressed it firmly stands with Saudi Arabia in all its measures to safeguard its security, stability, and interests.

The two sides called for stepping up efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis and to stop interventions that threaten Syria’s unity and sovereignty.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia expressed hopes that the parties in Iraq would reach an agreement to form a government while stressing the need to maintain security and stability in Lebanon, as well as support the Lebanese people.

The statement said the two countries support international efforts that seek to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stressing the need to step up efforts in the fight against terrorism, in all its forms.

King posts tweet on Saudi crown prince’s visit

His Majesty King Abdullah II posted a tweet on his official Twitter accout on the occasion of the visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the deputy prime minister and minister of defence of Saudi Arabia, to Jordan.

“My brother, His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, we were honored to welcome you in your home and among your family in Jordan. Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of my brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, will remain a defender and supporter of its Arab and Islamic nations, and we will remain in Jordan, the advocate and faithful neighbor, for all the Arab brothers for the good of our country and our people” King Abdullah said in his tweet.

Commandos 61 Brigade carries out tactical exercise with French elite forces

The “Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Rapid Intervention /High Readiness Brigade-Commandos 61,” on Wednesday carried out a tactical exercise with the participation French special forces.

A number of senior officers of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army Al-Arabi, French Embassy diplomatic representative and a number of military attaches attended the drill.

The joint tactical exercise (Jabal 3-Mountain 3) featured high terrain combat, detainee rescue, ground and air medical evacuation operations, and reconnaissance and sniper engagement, according to a JAF statement.

The two-day exercise aims to train troops to respond “promptly” to any emergency through joint coordination, and deal with all nature-imposed hardships and conditions. The participants demonstrated high fitness, accuracy and skill in mountain combat, the statement added.

Kuwait could increase oil production if necessary: official

The CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Nawaf al-Sabah, Wednesday said that Kuwait could pump more oil into the market if necessary in response to the requests of its clients.

Al-Sabah stated, on the sidelines of his participation in the Qatar Economic Forum, that European clients are demanding more refined oil from Kuwait, explaining that global oil demand is still high despite the outbreak of crises in separate regions of the world.

He said that Kuwait started its first steps to develop oil and gas production at sea, noting that the “Al-Zour” refinery will be operational at the end of this year, contributing to raising Kuwait’s production capacity.
