كما سلّط معالي نائب الوزير الضوء على ثلاثة عوامل جذب رئيسية للمستثمرين: الجيولوجيا ونظام البيئي للتعدين والاستدامة.

الجيولوجيا

  • تشير التقديرات إلى أن منطقة الدرع العربي (Arabian Shield) يحتوي على ما قيمته 1.3 تريليون دولار من الثروة المعدنية الممكنة، عبر العديد من السلع، بما في ذلك الذهب والنحاس والفوسفات وخام الحديد والمعادن الأرضية النادرة، وكثير منها ضروري للتقنيات التي ستقود مستقبلًا مستدامًا، والتي في ارتفاع الطلب.
  • كما توفر قاعدة البيانات الجيولوجية الوطنية (National Geological Database) التي تم إطلاقها مؤخرًا إمكانية الوصول عبر الإنترنت إلى ما يعادل 80 عامًا من السجلات الوطنية للمعلومات الجيولوجية والجيوفيزيائية والجيوكيميائية، بما في ذلك آلاف التقارير التفصيلية حول أهداف التعدين وآفاقه.
  • أُعلن مؤخرًا أيضًا عن برنامج مسح جيولوجي إقليمي (Regional Geological Survey Program) رئيسي قيد التنفيذ الآن وسيجري عمليات مسح جيوفيزيائية وجيوكيميائية وإنشاء خرائط تفصيلية لمساحة أكثر من 700,000 كيلومتر مربع من منطقة الدرع العربي.

النظام البيئي للتعدين

  • ركزت رؤية السعودية 2030 على التعدين من أجل تحقيق نمو في هذا القطاع ليصبح الركيزة الثالثة للنمو الصناعي في البلاد، مما أدى إلى تطوير شامل في استراتيجية تطوير التعدين والصناعات التعدينية
    (Mining and Mining IndustriesDevelopment Strategy)، والتي حددت ما يقرب من 40 مبادرة، معظمها قيد التنفيذ بالفعل.
  • يجري تغيير الإطار القانوني والتنظيمي للتعدين في المملكة العربية السعودية، وأصبح مصمم الآن لضمان الترخيص الفعال والشفاف؛ وتبسيط ممارسة الأعمال التجارية؛ ودعم صناعة التعدين الديناميكية والمستدامة.

  • – تم تنفيذ حوافز جديدة، بما في ذلك توفير تمويل مشترك يصل إلى 75 في المائة من الاستثمار، وإجازة امتياز لمدة خمس سنوات لعمال المناجم، وخصومات على عائدات الإنتاج المحلي، ودعم تكاليف السعودة
  • اجتذبت المملكة بالفعل كميات كبيرة من الاستثمارات المحلية والدولية في سلع التعدين مثل الذهب والفوسفات والألمنيوم.

  • يهدف مبدأ الاستدامة في قطاع التعدين إلى حماية البيئة وصحة وسلامة العاملين في القطاع.
  • لقد أطلقت المملكة مبادرة ضمان استدامة قطاع التعدين، والتي تهدف إلى إنشاء قطاع يركز على تحقيق التوازن بين القيمة الاقتصادية وحماية البيئة.
  • كما يضمن نظام التعدين الجديد في البلاد الأولوية القصوى للممارسات المستدامة بالنسبة لمشغلي التعدين الجدد عندما يتقدمون بطلب للحصول على تراخيص.

وأخيرًا، أعلن معالي نائب الوزير، المهندس المديفر عن تفاصيل افتتاحية قمة Future Minerals Summit (FMS)، وهي أول فعالية على الإطلاق تقدم “متجرًا شاملاً” للمستثمرين وعمال المناجم وغيرهم من أصحاب المصلحة في الصناعة المهتمين بمعرفة المزيد عن فرص التعدين في الشرق الأوسط وآسيا الوسطى وشمال وشرق إفريقيا.

تم التخطيط لقمة FMS خلال الفترة من 11 إلى 13 يناير 2022 في الرياض، وسترحب بالحضور من جميع أنحاء العالم، بما في ذلك الحكومات والمستثمرون وشركات التعدين والشركات الكبرى. يتمحور برنامج القمة حول أربع ركائز:

الإمارات العربية المتحدة تقبل تعيين جاستن كريم حاولي السفير الأول لدولة سانت كيتس ونيفيس

Blumont, EBRD sign agreement to support home-based businesses in Madaba

Blumont, a global non-profit development-centered organization, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have recently signed an agreement to promote sustainable economic growth of home-based businesses led by youth and women in Madaba, south of Amman.

In this pilot project, funded through the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), Blumont will support establishing a self-sustaining business hub in the local community in Madaba by partnering with ‘Kawon’, a local book store and cafe.

The business hub will support local home-based businesses to access skills development opportunities, markets to sell their products and services, and micro-finance facilities to support the growth of their businesses.

Under this agreement, Blumont will produce a comprehensive case study that will highlight the findings of the pilot project and share it with the wider development cooperation partners and members of the Livelihoods Working Group as a guiding document for setting up this model.

Caroline Haddad, Blumont Jordan Country Director, expressed pride in this partnership and said: “Home- based businesses are the backbone of the Jordanian economy as they contribute to employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods. We thank the EBRD for this contribution that will create further job opportunities, advances the development process, and enhances financial inclusion in underserved communities.”

Philip ter Woort EBRD Director, Regional Head of Eastern Mediterranean Region added: “We are very happy with this partnership with Blumont and look forward to creating a successful and sustainable model that can be duplicated in other parts of Jordan and possibly other countries.”

Rami Samain Regional Inclusion Specialist from EBRD said: “the Bank’s unique inclusive business model focuses on improving employability of young men and women through reducing the skills mismatch gap and providing access to quality skills development programs. This project will provide beneficiaries with market-relevant skills and enable them to engage in the economic cycle through self-employment utilizing the regulatory framework of home-based business licensing. In this context, Kawon – as the hub for the entire exercise, will ensure sustainability of the model.”

Blumont will build the capacity of Kawon staff to provide coaching and skills development support for local home-based businesses. Kawon will then provide home based businesses’ with training sessions covering a number of areas, including management, marketing, finance, and business skills to facilitate their entry into the formal economy and link them to new markets.

Blumont is a global organization working in concert with local communities to design and implement innovative approaches to build infrastructure, deliver lifesaving humanitarian assistance, and foster opportunities for long- term stability and economic development.

Since establishing an Amman office since 2003, Blumont has worked to support refugees and displaced persons, provide health services, and improve community resources for vulnerable Jordanians.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a multilateral bank that promotes the development of the private sector and entrepreneurial initiative in 37 economies across three continents.

Normal summer weather forecast for three days

Normal summer conditions are expected to prevail on Sunday in the highlands and the plains, while it will be relatively hot to hot in other parts of the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

The weather department warned of direct exposure to sunlight, mainly at noon, in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, and of poor visibility over heights and the Badia areas in the late night hours due to fog formation.

On Monday, a slight drop in mercury levels is forecast, but similar weather conditions will continue to persist until Tuesday, with low-altitude clouds in the northern and central regions, the JMD added.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom on Sunday will range between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 18C or even 14C in the northern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 39C and a low of 27C.

Jordan sends 5th aid plane to Lebanon

A Jordanian relief aid plane carrying medicines and medical supplies was dispatched to Lebanon on Sunday, the fifth relief aircraft sent by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).

A statement by the JHCO said that the plane, which was dispatched in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, will be delivered to the concerned authorities in Lebanon, under royal directives to stand by the Lebanese people in light of the current situation the country is experiencing.

The JHCO has sent four aid planes carrying medical items, medicines, and food parcels since the beginning of the crisis in Lebanon.

JFDA seizes narcotic drugs in house in Amman

The Jordan Food and Drug Administration’s (JFDA) monitoring and inspection teams, in cooperation with other concerned authorities, seized a large quantity of narcotic drugs in an apartment in Amman.

In a statement on Sunday, JFDA’s Director-General Nizar Mheidat said that the teams have seized the narcotics, adding that legal measures will be taken against those responsible.

The administration’s teams are working round the clock to ensure that such products are used in an optimal manner and are dispensed to patients with original prescriptions in permissible quantities based on the laws, regulations, and instructions issued in this regard, Mheidat highlighted.

The JFDA called on citizens to contact it if they have any observation, inquiry or complaint via the toll-free complaints line 117114, e-mail info@ JFDA.jo, and through the “WhatsApp” application on the number 0795632000 available around the clock.

Lower House speaker meets Iraqi parliamentary blocs

Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Abdulmunim Oddat and a number of MPs on Sunday met with the leaders of the Al-Fateh and Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq blocs in the Iraqi parliament for a discussion on Jordanian-Iraqi relations and ways to cement parliamentary cooperation.

In his with meeting Hadi al-Amiri, leader of the Al-Fateh coalition, Oddat stressed that Jordan stands at the same distance from all political currents in Iraq, and believes; under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, that a unified, secure and stable Iraq is a strong and fundamental pillar for regional security and stability.

The Jordanian delegation voiced hope that the Iraqi parliamentary elections would contribute to reinforcing the country’s internal front, which has become more cohesive in the past few years, as evidenced by the unity of all forces against extremism and terrorism.

Al-Amiri praised the solid Jordanian position in defending the Palestinian issue, and stressed that the Al-Fateh coalition takes into account the interests of Iraq, preserves its Arab identity and refuses any external interference in its internal affairs.

Separately, Oddat and his accompanying delegation met with Qais al-Khazali, leader of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq alliance, and discussed with him ways to cement ties between Jordan and Iraq. Oddat said that Iraq has begun to recover from its crises, stressing that political pluralism could be a source of strength as long as Iraq’s interest is put first.

Al-Khazali said that Jordan can play a major role in consolidating the political process in Iraq, stressing that a clear Jordanian position is welcomed by many political currents and forces in the country.

Jordan condemns terrorist attack in Kirkuk

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday condemned a terrorist attack that targeted a security checkpoint in Kirkuk in northern Iraq last night, killing and injuring a number of Iraqi policemen.

In a statement, the ministry’s spokesman, Haitham Abu al-Foul, stressed the Kingdom’s denunciation of all terrorist acts, and underlined Jordan’s solidarity with Iraq in the face of threats to its security and stability.

He extended Jordan’s heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Iraq and the families of the victims, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Iraq: 12 policemen dead, 3 others injured in Daesh attack

A terrorist attack carried out on Sunday by the Daesh group on an Iraqi federal police station in Kirkuk, north of Iraq, killed 12 police officers and injured 3 others.

A source at the Iraqi police force said in a press statement that the terrorist Daesh group attacked unsuspecting policemen, who engaged the terrorists and killed a number of them and burned their vehicles.
