AUSTIN, Texas, July 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — The leader of the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute (TCAI) at St. David’s Medical Center recently led a clinical study to evaluate the world’s first data-driven artificial intelligence (AI) platform for cardiac electrophysiology (EP) procedures. Andrea Natale, M.D., F.H.R.S., F.A.C.C., F.E.S.C., cardiac electrophysiologist and executive medical director of TCAI, conducted the first-in-human trial in Europe.

The NeuTrace EP Platform technology is designed to better guide electrophysiologists during complex cardiac EP procedures to help improve safety and reduce procedure times.

“This first-of-its-kind innovative AI-driven EP platform allows us to enhance ablation by providing advanced metrics and comprehensive patient data in real time for a more precise delivery during complex ablation procedures,” Dr. Natale said. “The AI-guided cardiac mapping technology is designed to provide a much safer option for patients and ensure the best possible outcomes.”

The EP platform is built on the foundation of an underlying “Data Biome” and leverages AI to provide the most high-fidelity signal quality, advanced metrics, improved visualizations and comprehensive patient data—including real time, electrical signals and 3-D navigation—for a more accurate view of the underlying characteristics of the heart during all EP procedures. The mapping application is one of several “apps” on the EP platform and is designed to provide a more tailored and accurate approach to mapping and ablation, with the goal of increasing accuracy and improving patient outcomes—from diagnosis through ablation and beyond.

During the meeting attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty and Gen. Milley discussed promoting the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, namely, in security and defense spheres, as well as, the international efforts aiming at fighting terrorism within a holistic approach.

Jordan registers 4 COVID-19 related deaths, 331 infections on Friday

4 new deaths and 331 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Friday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 9,933 and 763,437 respectively, since the outbreak began in March of 2020, according to the Ministry of Health daily brief.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 54, while 45 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

On the capacity of hospitals in the Kingdom, the brief said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 6 per cent, intensive care beds 17 per cent and ventilators 11 per cent.

In the Central region, isolation beds were at an occupancy rate of 15 per cent, ICU beds at 26 per cent and ventilators 8 per cent, it said.

In the south, it added, the occupancy rate of isolation beds reached 8 per cent, ICU beds 7 per cent and ventilators 5 per cent.

It said that 15,172 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 8,307,905, and that the positivity rate today was about 2.18 per cent.

In his first steps toward his own Cuba policy, U.S. President Joe Biden is sanctioning the Cuban defense minister and its special forces for the aggressive crackdowns on protests across the island nation earlier this month, the White House announced Thursday.

Those protests were some of the largest and most widespread in decades as Cuba reels from a new wave of the coronavirus, the economic pain of COVID-19, and shortages of food and medicine.

CDD cadres save person from drowning in Dead Sea

The Civil Defense Department (CDD) cadres saved a person from drowning in the Dead Sea area.

The media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said Friday, that the Dead Sea Martyrs Civil Defense Center received reports of an individual drowning in the Dead Sea waters.

In turn, specialized Civil Defense boats immediately moved to search for and rescue the person.

The media spokesman confirmed that the civil defense cadres were able to reach the person and take him out of the sea in a timely manner.

First aid was performed and the man was transferred to the Southern Shouneh Hospital.

The spokesman described the individual’s health condition as moderate.

King discusses Jordan’s economic efforts with World Bank, International Monetary Fund

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Friday met, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, in two separate meetings with World Bank Group President David Malpass and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

The two meetings touched on Jordan’s efforts in implementing development and economic plans that aiming at creating job opportunities, increasing investments and improving the business environment and basic services to achieve growth while maintaining economic stability and protecting a larger segment of families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Means to support Jordan’s economy to recover from the recent crisis by the international institutions were discussed during the meetings.

The meetings were attended by the director of His Majesty’s office and the Kingdom’s ambassador in Washington.
