JMD forecasts moderate weather in highlands, higher temps in other regions

Temperatures on Monday are expected to rise few degrees, making relatively hot to hot weather in most parts of the Kingdom, except in the highlands and the plains where it will be fair, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), the next two days are forecast to see similar weather conditions, with northwesterly moderate to active winds.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom on Monday will range between 26 and 31 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 17C or even 12C in the southern highlands.

In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 37C a low of 23C.

Int’l oil derivatives prices rise in 1st week of June

The prices of oil derivatives in global markets have risen in the first week of June, according to data released on Monday by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The ministry’s figures showed that the price of 90-octane gasoline went up by 2.2 percent, going from $631.6 per ton in May to $645.7, while the price of 95-octane gasoline rose from $650.3 per ton to $661.8, an increase of 1.8 percent.

Diesel prices also increased by 4.1 percent going from $543.1 per ton to $565.2, while the prices of kerosene rose by 3.5 percent, from $567.1 to $587.3 per ton.

The prices of liquefied gas for June went up by 9.6 per cent, going from $480 to $526.3 to per ton.

Benchmark Brent crude prices also increased in the first week of the current month, from $68.8 to $69.9 per barrel.

China sees 19 new COVID-19 cases

China on Monday recorded 19 new coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours, of which 5 are local cases, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).

In a daily statement, the commission said that no new deaths were recorded in the mainland during the last day.

“The commission had received reports of 91,267 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in the Chinese mainland,” it added.

86,228 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 403 confirmed cases, including 10 cases in serious condition, according to the NHC.
