Security forces Tuesday arrested two men after they attempted to rob a bank near Airport Road south of Amman, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
The PSD media spokesman said that police were notified that two armed persons stormed the branch of a bank in the Airport Road area, and threatened staff at gunpoint to hand over sums of money. One of the suspects fired shots and injured his accomplice and a bank employee in the hand and loin, and fled the scene, he said.
Police moved in, sealed off the area and served alerts about the fugitive and the vehicle he used, he said, adding that the escaped suspect was apprehended shortly after the vehicle was involved in a crash, and his gun was seized.
He said the injured were transferred to hospital and an investigation was underway.
