A total of 17 schools in various regions of the Kingdom will be provided with solar panel systems to generate electricity for heating and air conditioning purposes, according to the Energy Ministry.

In a statement, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Sunday indicated that the program is implemented by the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), as part of a Royal initiative that aims at improving the education environment in the schools.

“This batch is part of the 128 schools that have been included in JREEEF’s program of renewable energy upgrades, with the goal of rationalizing energy consumption and providing a safe and stimulating educational environment for students,” the minister added.

The project, according to JREEEF Director Rasmi Hamzeh, entails designing, supplying, installing, connecting, operating, maintaining, and testing the renewable energy systems, along with split air conditioners and solar heaters.
